The challenge
Anker Lock & Key is a locksmith serving residential, commercial, and automotive customers across Metro Detroit. When the owner came to IGD, he was running a website he had built himself on Wix. It didn’t show up on Google, and despite several attempts, he couldn’t get approved for a Google Business Profile. Google holds locksmiths to stricter verification standards than most businesses, which makes approval difficult for new shops. The website brought in no business. A few customers a week found him through Yelp, and that was it.
As a new business, he had a limited budget. He needed results before he could invest in a full website.
What IGD did
We started small. Instead of a new website, we set up and managed his business listings across 60+ directories, search engines, and map apps, including Bing, Facebook, and Yelp. This made sure his business name, address, phone number, hours, and services were accurate and consistent everywhere customers search.
Next, we solved the Google problem. We worked with him to understand why his profile kept getting rejected and what Google needed to see. By updating how his physical address, mailing address, and registered agent information were set up, we got his Google Business Profile approved.
Together, the listings and Google profile brought in customers he couldn’t reach through Yelp alone, and enough steady business for him to budget for a new website.
He didn’t need anything complicated. He wanted a simple, professional site that clearly marketed his services. He already had a logo and brand, so we built around them. The new site:
- Organizes his services into automotive, commercial, and residential
- Lists the communities he serves across Oakland, Macomb, and Lapeer counties
- Puts his phone number and a contact form front and center
We built and launched the site in 3 weeks. IGD continues to host and manage the website, so he can focus on running his business.
The results
Since launch, Anker Lock & Key has seen a significant increase in customers, who now find him online through his website and Google listing.
